abstract:
The paper explores the relationship between epistemic justice and climate justice, arguing that the ecological crisis cannot be adequately addressed without questioning the epistemological assumptions that dominate public discourse on it. Through a critical analysis of the concepts of ecosystem services and green capitalism, it shows how the monetisation of nature reproduces logics of epistemic exclusion, marginalising the knowledge of the most vulnerable communities. The connection between social injustice and climate injustice is structural: the populations that have contributed least to the crisis bear its heaviest consequences and are systematically excluded from defining problems and solutions. These findings carry direct implications for research practice, pointing towards participatory and reflexive models — post-normal science, RRI, Open Science — capable of integrating diverse knowledge systems and producing knowledge genuinely with and for society. The democratisation of knowledge is proposed as an unavoidable ethical imperative for a university equal to the challenges of its time.
