abstract:
The paradigm of resilience is one of the major challenges contemporary architecture is about to face in the coming decades. In the context of environmental risks the key element of architectural design and urban planning is the relationship between the scale of the risk and the urban processes. This paper will analyse case studies regarding that relationship. Urban system is intended as a form of symbiosis between man and matter. This paper highlights the role of the architect and urban planner in making that system resilient.
