Abstract:
The essay constitutes a critical reflection on Salvatore Satta’s
philosophy of law, with particular reference to his inquiry into the
‘mystery of the trial’ and the role of judgment. Satta’s positions are
reconstructed by correlating his more strictly procedural-civil law
writings with the interventions he later gathered in his ‘Soliloqui’,
which represent a broader meditation on the meaning of law, as
well as with his reflections as a writer
