Le case-albergo di Luigi Moretti: un «centro urbano concentrato in un solo edificio a sviluppo verticale» nella Milano della ricostruzione

In 1946, just a few months after the end of the war, Luigi Moretti proposed to the City of Milan the design for a complex of twenty-two “case-albergo” to be built around the city, in absolute technical-planning and financial autonomy. Although only three “case-albergo” were eventually built, in Via Corridoni, Via Bassini and Via Lazzaretto, they stand as an absolute novelty in the Milanese architectural scene. This paper aims to reconstruct the birth and development of Moretti’s design, comparing it with similar proposals that emerged in the same years in Milan.
