Abstract:
“Skepticism and Fallibilism”
The paper addresses the topic of skepticism. After having stressed the importance of doubt in epistemology and the risks of doubting absolutely everything, the paper calls attention on a more guarded use of doubt, the one typical of the fallibilist. Fallibilism takes then the central stage in the paper, thanks to a careful analysis of the thought of thinkers such as Charles Sanders Peirce, Willard Van Orman Quine, Hilary Putnam, Donald Davidson and Robert Nozick.
