The contribution aims at shedding some light on children’s fundamental rights in the
context of cross-border civil proceedings in family matters. In particular, the child’s right to
receive adequate information before, during and after a judicial proceeding is examined.
Through an analysis of international and EU sources of hard law and soft law, as well as
the current status of children’s right to information in the Italian legal system, the Authors
wish to describe the current state of the art in the implementation and promotion of this
right, as well as to propose the possible future actions that could be undertaken, in the future,
by the international community and the national lawmaker and institutions.
