PROGETTO SI.S.SY – SITE SPECIFIC SYSTEM E SMART MATERIALS PER LA VALORIZZAZIONE DEGLI SPAZI PUBBLICI E RIQUALIFICAZIONE FUNZIONALE DEI BENI ARCHITETTONICI

Nowadays, the need to redevelop urban areas, degraded due to the lack of public or private initiative and, above all, of funds, is increasingly felt. This problem concerns more and more often highly valued landscapes with buildings no longer used for their original purpose. A research project funded within the scope of the “Colour&Light in Architecture” Research Unit of Università Iuav di Venezia focuses on this topic. One of the research project’s aims is to draw a series of guidelines for the functional and environmental redevelopment of the abandoned fortifications in the Veneto region, the valorisation of the relevant landscape and the redevelopment of the existing buildings. In order to do so, the research project is aimed at identifying and defining spatial, functional and environmental models through the use of temporary light and colour technologies made from low-environmental impact smart materials, possibly energy self-sufficient. In collaboration with the Veneto Region, the research project will become part of the Quaderno tematico del Paesaggio (Landscape Thematic Notebook) of the P.T.R.C. (Regional Territorial Coordination Plan) variance Veneto to highly valued landscapes. The paper will describe the progress of the research project.
