La Macchia mediterranea come risorsa pastorale

Mediterranean bush represents an important source of the extensive forage systems, nevertheless the utilization is different according to animal species. The aim of the agronomic techniques on shrub vegetation is to recover the lands with a good potentiality, now unproductive, and to avoid environmental damages.
In Sardinia and in other Mediterranean regions the experimental results show that it is possible, in the most favorable zones with a high cover ofCistusspp., to apply techniques with low environmental impact to improve forage production.
In this way the stocking rate can be reduced in the less productive areas that have a higher environment risk and use them for other activities.
