Abstract:
A representative of the gen.MetaxytheriumDe Christol (Sirenia, Mammalia) from the Miocene of the province of Sassari has been recognized. The specimen is described, illustrated and compared with the other fossil Sirenians of the Sardinia. On the base of the microfaunistic association, the suggested age is Upper Langhian-Lower Serravallian.
