Percorsi 1949-1983

To evince Giuseppe Samonà’s academic, professional and public commitment during the years of Italian development, it was decided to combine the drawings and models of the archive with a chronology that would allow one to see in parallel his didactic production, architectural reviews and essays alongside defining moments in the history of the country. The timeline that traces Samonà’s eclectic and complex figure highlights how he played a decisive role both as a designer and politician, in the history of the country’s great reconstruction, and, as a teacher, in the founding of the School of Architecture in Venice, thanks to a farsighted vision in the teaching of architecture. Through images of the period, photos of architectural models, reproductions of his essays and drawings, a timeline was rendered graphically that, without historiographic pretenses, accompanies Italian events, from the post-war period to the thirty years of economic and cultural recover y, with those of his life, allowing threads of readings between 1949 and 1983 to be traced.
