Il riformato ordinamento penitenziario italiano: modifiche e innovazioni in materia di vita detentiva

Abstract. The article details the changes introduced into the Italian penitentiary law by legislative decrees of October 2, nos. 123 and 124, with an emphasis on the rights of detainees. The author highlights the positive and negative aspects of a reform, which, on the one hand, introduces some improvements regarding a life inside the prison but, on the other hand, fails to intervene in matter of measures alternative to detention and in overcoming the legislative automatism and restrictions about the access to penitentiary benefits, depending on the kind of committed crime.
