Abstract:
Lipari is the biggest of the Aeolian islands and has been a significant source of obsidian since the early Neolithic period; which connected it to a trading network that spanned the entire Mediterranean.
The stratification found at the Castle fortress, shows the occupational phases of the island from the Neolithic right up to the end of the proto-historic/Early Iron Age when it was destroyed, probably by invasion.
