Le nuove frontiere della rappresentanza politica.

The traditional model of political representation is facing a time of
crisis due to a number of causes that make us reconsider the concept of
representation in its different dimensions. We are going through a moment
of transition which concerns the relationship between people and
rulers that inspires a reflection on the system of representative democracy.
Political parties are in a deep crisis and it seems like they are not anymore
able to work as mediators between people’s interests and rulers. Parliaments,
also because of the international and European integration
processes, are not anymore the epicenter of decision making. Deficit of
democracy is also one of the most serious problem for European Union;
still there are issues in finding an effective system of territorial representation
at a national level and in many constitutional orders, such as Italy,
there a strong imbalance regarding gender representation.
