OBJECTIVES. The aim of this study was to evaluate, both clinically and radiographically, two different cements in root canal treatment of necrotic primary teeth.
MATERIALS AND METHODS. Twenty necrotic primary teeth in a group of children aged 3 to 8 years were selected. All teeth were endodontically treated and filled with Vitapex® (Neo Dental International Inc., Federal Way, WA, United States) and Calcicur® (Voco®, Cuxhaven, Germany) and were followed up clinically and radiographically for a period of 12 months postoperatively.
RESULTS. The overall success rate of the two different cements was 100% and 91%, respectively.
CONCLUSIONS. Both cements gave encouraging results; however, further studies with longer follow-up are needed to evaluate any effects on permanent dentition.
