The inland Gallura for the affirmation of an alternative and sustainable tourism

Since its origins the tourism in Sardinia has been an important and driving detail of Island’s economy but, at the same time, spreading in non regular way on the territory, has created several disproportions, in particular between coastal and inland areas of the region. These last ones have always shared marginally in development processes of the touristic sector, excepting the movement of a piece of their population towards the new jobs which have arisen in great number n the municipalities facing the sea.
Due to a greater sensitivity towards the envinronment by both the autochthonous population and the tourists, we can see today an increase of the demand and the supply of holiday alternative and sustainable which involve also the inland areas of the Island and, in particular, the Gallura’s ones. Precisely in this Sardinian sub-region, substantially corresponding to Province of Olbia-Tempio, is clearly emerging the target to start a rationalization process in using the resources of the system “tourism” and “environment” also through the reorganization of the hospitality with a balanced mix of resources and services which the territory must be able to offer to regular and potential beneficiaries of the local scenery. From this awareness comes the organized offer, proposed also by the inland municipalities, including cultural resources such as archaelogical, gastronomic, oenological and ecological ones in addition to naturalistic itineraries to enjoy during the “shoulder” months, utilizing reception structures linked to the rural and shepherd’s world such as the holiday farmhouses, the spread hotels, the structures of the rural tourism. The above has already encountered a favourable feedback in the foreign tourists, more inclined to organize their holiday not only in the summer season.
