Interessi e paure dell'Occidente

Chapter
Publication Date:
2011
Short description:
Interessi e paure dell'Occidente / D'Agata, Raffaele. - (2011), pp. 228-236.
abstract:
The rise of China is only one aspect of a globally changing structure of the world system. The West reacted nervously to the Arab spring as it might endanger its control over capital flows from the Middle East upon which it has largely relied during the latest four decades, just while Chinese investments throughout North Africa and the Middle East were challenging its established links with the ruling elites in those regions. Western military interventions in Lybia may be seen as evidence that war-making still tends to play a significant role in influencing global trends affecting the distribution of economic and satrategic powe inside the world system.
