IL PARADIGMA REPUBBLICANO. SAGGI SUL RECUPERO DI UNA TRADIZIONE

The book aims to provide a framework on republican political theory by following two intersecting planes: 1) the analysis on the historical origins; 2) the analysis of the conceptual categories – such as freedom, state, active participation, citizenship – on which neo-republicans base their theory. Republicanism claims his originalità mainly on the concept of freedom as no domination that would be different from Constant’s distinction between ancient and modern liberty and from Berlin’s distinction between negative and positive. The question is: is correct to intend the freedom as no domination as a third kind of liberty? And what is the idea of democracy and citizenship that derive from the idea of freedon as no domination?
