Da costa a costa. Identità e culture per un turismo integrato in Sardegna

For those who live on the mainland, the expression "from coast to coast" generally means leave one coast and cross the sea to reach other beaches. Here we wanted to favor one more consonant meaning to the insular territories: i.e. crossing the island to know not only its coast but also its hinterland. In this sense, the tourism from coast to coast can be a way to live all aspects of the area where man spend the holiday, overcoming the stereotype of the exclusively maritime holiday, as the island was an atoll: beautiful coasts behind which it is the void.
Sardinia is, together with Corsica, a land that combines the features of the insular lands attraction: it is behind the sea, but not too far, it have a singular culture and historical heritage, it is considered with a specific identity. In this pages we bring into question the widespread idea of a identity’s tourism which often is limited to the appearances or to the false representations built for the sole purpose of attracting tourists by responding to their expectations and their imaginary. We believe in fact that a knowledge of the forms of expression of local cultures is a fundamental requirement for exit from the superficiality, to appreciate what the area and its inhabitants represent. This work then focuses on one of the forms of expression of the local culture, represented by the music and traditional songs, elements that are often offered to the tourists out of its context and adapted to not accustomed ears on the peculiarities of sounds. The risk is that in the long run the inhabitants consider these counterfeits as their true culture.
