Abstract:
We may deny the evidence that climate change has affected the planet for years, everywhere. Still, fires, floods, hurricanes and tornadoes are much more frequent than they used to be, and the cause is undeniably the increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
However, the precise attribution of how much climate change is due to historical cyclicality, i.e. purely natural causes, or the rise in temperatures in recent years, each one warmer than the last, is due to mankind; this contribution, is somewhat complex. For years now, palaeoclimatology, or the
study of past climates, geology and ecology, thanks to direct observation, analysis and studies on plankton from lakes and oceans, corals, tree rings, and rock sedimentation, can help place this warming in the context of natural climate variability or attribute it to the humankind modification
