Esposizione alla radiazione solare ultravioletta in ambiente costiero: valutazione dei fattori di rischio

For many years now, biomedical research has reached the conclusion that exposure to solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation can produce harmful health effects, particularly on the skin, the eyes and the immune system. The detection of appropriate caution measures, especially for outdoor workers who are exposed to UV radiation because of their job, constitutes moreover a remarkably sensitive issue, as it involves a series of topics that necessarily require a cross-disciplinary approach. The elaboration of a mathematical model allowing to estimate the intensity of the UV radiation, using more easily available meteorological quantities and astronomical parameters, must indeed be associated by the reconstruction of the legislation in force, the evaluation of the epidemiologic incidence of related cutaneous pathologies and the study of the so-called social costs resulting from the onset of such pathologies. Midway stage of an ongoing research work, this contribution yields the first reached conclusions, from both the contents-related and the methodological points of view, and illustrates the courses through which the research will be even further expanded.
