Macomer in the Punic Age. New Material Evidence from the Site of “Sa Presone Ezza” ·
Recent archaeological investigations promoted by Castra Sardiniae (years 2011-2012, 2016) in “Sa Presone Ezza” site in Macomer have made it possible to identify a series of Punic pottery from the 5th to the first half of 4th century BC, associated with some Attic black-glaze specimens. The sifting of historical-archaeological evidence on Macomer allows, together with the study of the new finds, to develop general considerations on the Punic phase in the entire territory and neighbouring areas. The present study testifies a frequentation of the area in the first phases of the Punic age, for the first time substantiating the evidence offered by toponym of Semitic derivation, traditionally connected to the territorial organization promoted by Carthage
