Short description:
"Lost in space. Visions of space in contemporary painting in Berlin" / Altea, Giuliana. - (2011), pp. 45-53.
abstract:
Looking at the Berlin situation (Berlin is today one of the capitals of international painting), the essay examines how contemporary painting reflects the transformations that the concept of space has undergone in the last few decades due to the expansion of digital technology and the (by now interiorized) experience of globalization. The idea of an expanded spatiality - sometimes even of a downright unlimited one - appears on the level of representation as well as on that of painting's material presence. It is a manifold space, crowded and simultaneous, ambiguous in many ways and definitely not reassuring.
