Etica e responsabilità sociale, decrescita e felicità: nuovi percorsi per la ricerca economico-agraria

Nowadays, cultural and methodological foundations of the very essence of economic science are deeply reconsidered. We talk frequently about degrowth and follow Amartya Sen's reccommendations on capabilities, ethics, justice and freedom; we study the works of Kahneman and Easterlin on happiness and rediscover the philosophical roots of economic thought by the reinterpretation of Aristotle's words. In these fields of analysis agricultural economics research can find concrete opportunities for the revitalization of the scientific debate and of the regulatory contribution to give to institutions, businesses and society. Without any prejudice and in a constructive way, this lecture frames these perspectives within the broader framework of the general topics mentioned above in order to highlight the opportunities and threats that these paradigms involve in the development of agricultural economic research in the near future.
