The career story of Albino Manca, a minor Fascist sculptor, is taken as a case-study to analyze the dynamics of the relationship between artists and power during the Fascist regime. Manca's career is reconstructed through previously unpublished documents, among them an interesting correspondence with Mussolini and Bottai.
