Guerra, prisoneiros e inimigos em Roma Antiga

This contribution article aims to analyze the legal conception of wars, enemies and the status of prisoners in the Roman world, beyond the technical-juridical notions of bellum iustum and hostis, and also with specific reference also to the study of legal status of the pirates’ prey, in relation to which one can hypothesize, from the data contained in the sources, the existence of a condition of “de facto slavery”
