abstract:
In 1949 Costantino Nivola and the architect, Bernard Rudofsky designed the garden of Nivola's house in Long Island as a series of open-air rooms aimed at integrating art and architecture. The essay examines the creative relationship between the two artists and the subsequent transformation of the garden in a work in progress, a place where the "synthesis of the arts" was experimented.
