La geografia del nuoto e le sue implicazioni sociali. Un’analisi sulla distribuzione spaziale degli impianti sportivi destinati al nuoto in Sardegna / Carboni, Donatella; Mazza, Giampietro. - In: GEOTEMA. - ISSN 1126-7798. - 74:gennaio-aprile 2024(2024), pp. 39-46.
abstract:
The present work is part of the geography analyzing sport and health, investigating the development and evolution of the sport of swimming in Sardinia and the various disciplines that refer to it, and the educational role played. The regional distribution of sports facilities reveals a polarized supply throughout the territory, marginally reaching inland areas. This aspect emphasizes the socio-cultural function played by the practice of sport, since the facilities also perform a social func- tion, as a meeting point in the island’s most marginal centers. The study highlighted the territorial distribution of facilities in the regional context, with a focus on the province of Sassari, where there is a significant presence of private facilities. In the regional context, there are more than 4,000 registered athletes distributed among 22 federal swimming schools, 37 affiliated clubs (Sardinian regional committee of the Italian swimming federation) and many other amateur swimmers who take part in sporting activities on a daily basis.
