abstract:
This paper analyses how Auerbach influences the work of Pasolini, in view of the main concept of Stilmischung in Mimesis: Pasolini uses this category not just as a mean to deal with language (and therefore with thought), but mainly as the instrument that enables him to create a fundamental bridge betweenrealityandtherepresentation.Themainconceptof ‘mixtureof styles’,borrowedfromAuerbach and filtered through the plurilinguism theory of Contini, is the instrument Pasolini uses to make the two meet, from both a critical and creative point of view: critical, as observer and commentator and creative, as poet- artist. Among other things, a theoretic essay like Il cinema di Poesia will reveal as one of the best examples of this kind of contact, through the mixture of narrative and representative points of view which becomes, in the end, a mixtures of styles and languages.
