particular, the 2.5-km-long Iscra Ruja beach near Capo Comino is associated with a large dune fi eld, which is
exceptional for eastern Sardinia. The presence of eolian sands is explained by recent changes in the drainage
network induced by the Plio-Pleistocene tectonic activity, which favoured stream piracy.
