The contribution reconstructs the path that leads Gentile, in the years follwing the public controversy in 1913 with Croce, first to design and than to relize the foundation of a new journal in philosophy. The third part takes into account the period in which the "Giornale critico della filosofia italiana" was directed by the founder (period including the first two series), comparing the program of the magazine and its effective implementation. The examination follows the parallel story of the deterioration of personal relationships between Croce and Gentile, coming to outline a brief historical overview of the new italian idealism inter-war
