Abstract:
A preliminary study on sexual function in 22 male and female subjects with epilepsy treated with old and new AEDs, matched with 24 health subjects, was carried out. ASEX and BDI scales were administered and a blood sample was drawn to value the levels of Tt, E2, SHBG, DHEAS, FSH, LH, Tf, *F, Ä4 and FAI rate. In male patients a statistically significant impairment of sexual function was found, according to decrease of Tf, DHEAS and increase of SHBG levels. Same results were not found in female patients.
