Coastline geography and coastal landscapes: territorial dynamics and integrated protection

The 8th International Symposium Monitoring of Mediterranean Coastal Areas: Problems and Measurements Techniques was the opportunity to promote actions to preserve coastal marine environment. The Scientific Committee of which the author is part, has dedicate this interdisciplinary symposium to Alexander von Humboldt, a scholar who proposed the organic and inorganic natural aspects as a single system. Considering that in-presence Symposium could not be carried out due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the online work and the publication of these Proceedings represent a sign of continuity with the past editions of the Symposium. Its keyword is coast and subjects are related to: morphology; flora and fauna; energy production; management and integrated protection; cultural heritage and environmental assets, legislation and economics; geography and landscape. The latter is the topic of this chapter, whic leads the Symposium Session on Coastline geography and coastal landscapes: territorial dynamics and integrated protection.
