Riflessioni sul mosaico nilotico di Fuente Álamo: dalle immagini alle parole

It is perhaps possible to propose a new interpretation of the famous Nilotic mosaic of Fuente Álamo, by correlating the images to the cartoons which accompanied them. This interpretation develops under the sign of that parody with many sexual allusions that adapted well to the subject of the Pygmies fighting cranes, perhaps partly suited also the context of the Iberian peninsula and the narrative plots of Latin mime and comedy. The whole composition had not only the purpose to rise the liberating laugh that drives away the evil eye, but perhaps, in its contrast to the calm of the river Nile, to show a disinterest in public life to take refuge in the peace of the countryside
