Relazione tra sintomatologia fogliare, alterazioni e micoflora del legno in viti affette da mal dell’esca ed eutipiosi

Grapevines with esca and eutypiose leaf symptoms (separately or on the same
plant) and grapevine without symptoms, showed the same kind of damaged wood and fungi but with different frequencies. Briefly, spongy wood, associated with Phellinus sp., was very frequent on grapevine with esca leaf symptoms, while light coioured necrosis in sectoriai position, associated
with che anamorph of Eutypa lata, were many on that with eutypa dieback leaf symptoms. All the examined grapevines showed pinkish to brown necrosis together with necrotic dotting, both associated with two species of
Phaeoacremonium. Collected data don't dispel doubts still existing on esca
etiology and epidemiology.
