abstract:
Postharvest thermotherapy applications on citrus fruits are performed by hot water (50 to 53 °C) dip immersion during 2-3 minutes. Curing application on moist air for 48-72 hours at 35-37 °C is also possible and effective.
Other thermotherapy application is the treatment against the Ceratitis capitata larvae on fruit for USA and Japan markets: vapour at 44-46 °C during 90-50 minutes or at lower temperature during some hours. The alternative to this process is a quarantine of 17 days under 1 °C: inapplicable to citrus variety sensitive to chilling injury without some specific treatment to avoid damages.
