abstract:
Following the signing of the framework agreement between the «Institut National du
Patrimoine» of Tunisia and the University of Sassari, under the direction of Samir Aounallah
and Attilio Mastino, in 2017 the complete edition of the Latin inscriptions of
Thignica, current Aïn Tounga in Tunisia, started with a rich documentation collected
through the use of new information technologies and the Reflectance Transformation
Imaging (RTI). The first researches concerned a hypothetical taurobolium, the calcareous
block with the unpublished inscription of M(arcus) Valerius Longinus Marcianus, the
possible restitutions of the dedication made by the cur(ator) rei p[ub(licae)] Q(uintus)
V[i]bul[e]nus Fabius Arianus, the so-called Temple of the waters with dedication to
Neptune Augustus. Numerous news, amendments and new research trails
