abstract:
Antimicrobials agents represent one of the most inappropriately
used classes of drugs for the absence of a real infection (abuse) or
for the incorrect dosage, frequency and ways (misuse). According to
the report “Antimicrobial resistance surveillance in Europe 2013”
published by ECDC, antibiotic resistance shows an increasing trend
in Gram-negative species and tends to be stable, but rather high, for
Gram-positive. The present study shows the analysis of costs and
consumption of antimicrobial systemic agents in the hospital area
of the AOU Sassari between 2011-2014 and the antibiograms data
performed on biological samples isolated from hospitalized patients
at the Pneumological and Intensive Care wards. Our group also
analyzed costs and consumption of antibiotics in the territorial area
of ASL Sassari, paying particular attention to improper use of
azithromycin and fosfomycin according to their technical data
