Matrici e tariffe d’estimo per i vigneti proposte dal Catasto provvisorio al comune di Alghero (Sassari, Italia)

This study has been carried out in order to stress the damages the owners of vineyards had to suffer for the institution of a Provisional Land (Registry) Office since it was concerned only with taking a census of vinegrowing but in mass and not geometrically. The excessive, esorbitant, land taxes that followed, caused an intolerable fiscality which resulted in disagreements and riots in the population. Many times the Municipal Administration tried to solve the problem requesting to the Land Census Office surveys and amendments about what had been set in the counterfoils. At first reimboursements were claimed to the Land Census Office, later the Administration started a contentious procedure. The controversy thus originated was to go on for about twenty years.
