Abstract:
In July 2001, a 50-year-old man presented with a 2-month history of a painful nodular lesion on the left lower leg that was not associated with any preceding trauma or iatrogenic procedures in this area. Different skin biopsies were performed and the histological findings were those of a mixed granulomatous infiltrate with- out caseous necrosis in the dermis and upper subcutaneous fat. This finding is suggestive of mycobacterial infection, but a definitive diagnosis of mycobacteriosis is needed to identify the causative agents.
