Abstract:
Blood level of minerals during estrous synchronization in sheep.
Out of a group of sheep (2 males and 28 females of wich 22 lactating) during 34 days the possible effect on the blood mineral level of estrous synchronization with FGA by vaginal sponge has been checked. Blood levels of Ca and P did not vary. in lactating sheep, that on the average secreted 575 +- 109 ml of milk, serum level of Ca showed the same level of a non lactating sheep. In these subjects parathyroid activity decreased, while the alkaline phosphatase showed a lower level in respect to the level found in the male. Estrous synchronizing hormonal tretment did not vary blood levels of Mg that resulted significantly higher (P>0,01) in lactating subjects.Similarly, blood levels of Fe did not vary after treatment: the parameter showed lower average values in lactating sheep, at a significant limit. Similarly, serum levels of Cu, Zn, Na, K and Cl after hormonal treatment did not vary. Blood lels of Zn are fluctuating. Blood levels of Cu in non lactating sheep were lower initially with significant difference (P>0,001). Therefore, it was contrary to the level in lactating sheep, but non at a significant level.
