Abstract:
Abstract―Antonio Gramsci’s internationalist approach to revolutionary politics took shape in a period where nationalist feelings appeared to be deeply rooted in European lower-class culture, whereas socialist official commitment to internationalism finally proved either subdue to the optimistic ideology of world capitalism or little more than lip-service with respect to the imperialist leaning of the main European governments even before 1914. Gramsci’s early rejection of any nationalist shortcut to the problem of resisting world capitalist constraints was confirmed though his appreciations about the evolution of international politics soon after the Soviet revolution, as well as during the Paris peace conference and its immediate aftermath.
