Abstract:
The classical myth in Dracontius’s Hylas: literary aspects
and ideological instances. This paper analyzes some of the ways in
which Dracontius refers to classical authors in his reprise of pagan mythological
themes: in the Hylas (Romul. 2) the African poet reworks and personalizes the myth,
bending it to his ideological needs as part of a wide-ranging cultural project.
