Technological changes have brought about various kinds of autonomous vehicles, such as aeronautical and maritime drones, and self-driving and assisted driving cars. The authors deals with regulatory and liability issues, with special reference to autonomous cars. The authors see less similarities than differences with other kinds of autonomous vehicles. Finally, they discuss the adequacy of the current regulatory framework and the classification of driverless vehicles as «cars», as well as the perspectives on completing the experimental phase
